This oral history project documents the stories of CD6 seniors/elders, mothers, grandmothers, etc. specifically on Blythe Street, Panorama City.
We are lucky and grateful seniors/elders on Blythe St. shared space with us at a beloved community space known as Casa Esperanza. Casa Esperanza has been a hub within the community for over 15 years and the elders/community members in Chicas Girasol are a significant chapter in a greater effort to come together and celebrate culture and community in Panorama City.
In the last 5+ years Casa has hosted public events on Blythe Street for the community to showcase youth mariachi and baile folkorico performances, free food, music, and more. Casa Esperanza and the communities they foster, such as Chicas Girasol, create a welcoming experience for its residents every year, year round.
Special shout out to Kristy S. and Marisol (Mari), and Casa Esperanza staff for supporting us and sharing their space with us with the beloved community in Panorama City, CD6.
